Title: Digital Content Specialist

Pay Grade: Grade 18

Starting Pay: $80,071.49

Departmental Mission Statement: The Executive Office of the Trial Court is led by the Chief Justice of the Trial Court and the Court Administrator and oversees judicial and court operations, including the Office of Court Management. The Executive Office works collaboratively with the seven Trial Court Departments and Commissioners of Probation and Jury to develop and implement policies and initiatives that promote an environment of continuous improvement and ensure the most effective use of resources to allow the delivery of quality justice. The Executive Office also oversees the development and implementation of strategic planning for the Trial Court.

Position Summary: Working within the Executive Office of the Trial Court, the Digital Communications Specialist helps coordinate all activities related to the development and ongoing operation of the Judicial Branch websites, as well as supporting the posting and editing of content for the Judiciary websites. The Digital Communications Specialist assists in the continuous improvement of the operation and efficiency of Trial Court communication by helping to inform the public about the Trial Court’s mission, services, and initiatives. The Digital Communications Specialist also partners with court officials to ensure that the websites are regularly updated with accurate content, and that employees are regularly updated on key initiatives, developments, and strategic plans. An ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative is essential.

Supervision Received: Receives general direction and supervision from the Digital Content Manager.

Duties:

  • Manages and edits the Judicial Branch web pages, intranet (Courtyard) and internet (Mass.gov), including all regular website changes, configurations, and updates;
  • Updates and coordinates website content in collaboration with department designees, creative and technical teams, and subject matter experts across the court;
  • Interacts with all levels of court staff and officials, including judges, on matters of content to support the strategic interests of the Judicial Branch and provide information to the public;
  • Works with the Senior Web Manager, Senior Communications Manager and the Supreme Judicial Court’s Public Information Office to advance strategies for social media policy and outreach;
  • Verifies that web content meets standards for design, appropriateness, visibility, and accuracy and provides a consistent look and feel throughout Court websites;
  • Analyzes, identifies, and corrects issues and problems occurring on the websites;
  • Helps research various web tools and information on web design and site improvement to ensure regular site upgrades;
  • Participates in multiple projects as they pertain to the websites and communicates and works with court staff to achieve project goals;
  • Collaborates with the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) staff in order to manage ongoing work related to mass.gov, share information, cooperate on joint initiatives and push for improvements that will serve the Judicial Branch’s goals and objectives;
  • Tracks and reports on website metrics and feedback to determine and measure impact and effectiveness of web content;
  • Creates project plans that allow detailed tracking of progress toward goals and objectives.
  • Writes technical how-to documentation for intranet (Courtyard) and internet (Mass.gov);
  • Conduct trainings for intranet site authors;
  • Proofs content for websites, newsletters, and email communications
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities, as required.

Minimum Requirements: These are the minimum requirements necessary to apply for the position of Digital Communications Specialist:

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of communications, digital content strategy and management experience for a large organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Demonstrated writing, editing, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills;
  • Experience with using content management systems (CMS)
  • Experience preparing technical documentation for websites;
  • Experience developing content in multiple formats using multiple forms of communication including social media, web, and other online content platforms;
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-departmental teams; and ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive issues
  • Experience using analytics to determine the impact and effectiveness of web communication to inform strategy;
  • Strong organizational and project management skills;
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Microsoft Office, web survey tools, social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, and blogging and email campaign software is preferred;
  • Knowledge of the organization of the Massachusetts Trial Court is a plus.
