Title: Graphic Design & Video Editor

Pay Grade: Grade 18

Starting Pay: $80,071.49

Departmental Mission Statement: The Executive Office of the Trial Court is led by the Chief Justice of the Trial Court and the Court Administrator and oversees judicial and court operations, including the Office of Court Management. The Executive Office works collaboratively with the seven Trial Court Departments and Commissioners of Probation and Jury to develop and implement policies and initiatives that promote an environment of continuous improvement and ensure the most effective use of resources to allow the delivery of quality justice. The Executive Office also oversees the development and implementation of strategic planning for the Trial Court.

Position Summary: Working within the Executive Office of the Trial Court, the Graphic Design and Video Editor helps coordinate visual elements related to the programs, initiatives, and communications within the Judicial Branch. The Graphic Design and Video Editor assists in the continuous improvement of the operation and efficiency of Trial Court communication by promoting the Trial Court brand and working to inform the public about the Trial Court’s mission, services, and initiatives through design. The Graphic Design and Video Editor also partners with court officials to ensure that websites, reports, courthouse signage and other visual cues are regularly updated using visual content consistent with Trial Court branding efforts. An ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative is essential.

Supervision Received: Receives general direction and supervision from the Senior Web Manager or their designee.


  • Design visual content for print, web, and digital applications that is on-brand, reinforces the status and reputation of the Trial Court, and is appropriate for our various audiences;
  • Design and layout of materials for internal communications and engagement with court leaders;

  • Design and layout of essential branded business materials (e.g. reports, presentations, signage, web graphics);
  • Develop branded templates and materials for stakeholders to use in their development of reports, presentations and documents;
  • Provide guidance and answer questions related to the Trial Court brand and Branding Guidelines;

  • Create images, icons, infographics and presentation materials to simplify communication of complex concepts and data;
  • Edit video clips for use on websites, in presentations, and on social media platforms;

  • Create short videos to highlight, recap, inform, and promote various endeavors, services, and events;

  • Provide technical support for design and video-related efforts;

  • Optimize graphics and video content for social media platforms, intranet, and public website;

  • Contribute knowledge of color, composition, typography, digital design, and production management;

  • Maintain organized content files, and help to organize and archive existing video and graphics files;

  • Provide alternative formats, including closed captioning and/or transcripts for video, for audiences with disabilities;
  • Manage timelines and prioritize workload;
  • Assist web team members in building and editing web content for web projects when design workload allows;
  • Assist the Office of Language Access in developing multilingual visual content;

  • Assist the Communications Team in developing and executing communications plans; and
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities, as required.

Minimum Requirements: These are the minimum requirements necessary to apply for the position of Graphic Design and Video Editor:

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, or related field, and (3) three years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Strong visual communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts and data through images;
  • Familiarity with design principles, best practices, and accessibility for graphics and video content;

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills;

  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (mainly InDesign, illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, and Premiere), Microsoft Office, video creation and editing applications, video hosting platforms (such as Vimeo and YouTube), and email communications platforms (Constant Contact, etc.);
  • Familiarity with creating graphics and video content for social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram);
  • Comfortable with technology; technically proficient with the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve;
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with colleagues;
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines;
  • Flexibility and creativity working with new issues, topics, and approaches;
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) is preferred;
  • Experience with data visualization and project management tools is a plus.
