Official Title: Facilities Supervisor I- West Roxbury BMC

Pay Grade: Grade 15S

Salary Range: 15S Entry Level Pay: $64,797.20 to Pay Range Maximum: $95,500.86

Starting Pay: $64,797.20/yr.

Salary Notes: This position is designated as a Union position. All new hires must start at the entry level rate for this role per the collective bargaining agreement/MOA with OPEIU, Local 6. Pay may advance within the salary band according to the CBA/MOU.

Departmental Mission Statement: The Facilities Management and Capital Planning department provides for the management and maintenance of 62 state-owned courthouses, and 42 leased facilities located in ten counties of the Commonwealth. The Department is committed to administering effective property management, facility operations, facility renewal, and the delivery of quality customer service in support of the administration of justice throughout the Commonwealth.

Notes: 

  • This position is considered essential personnel in certain emergencies and may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours, including staying late or coming in early.
  • This position may have occasional travelling.
  • The hours for this position is 6am-2pm.

Position Summary: Supervises and performs lead work in facility maintenance and cleaning operations for
one stand-alone courthouse facility that does not include multiple court departments and
is less than 70,000 square feet. Coordinates with outside contractors and performs
scheduling for supervised staff.

Supervision Received: Works under the direction of the Facilities Regional Manager or designee.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Ensures buildings are presentable to Trail Court standards and the general
public.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance to building systems and exterior grounds.
• Responds to facility emergencies.
• Completes signage requests and installation.
• Provides escort for vendors and contractors to designated building and locations.
• Conducts multiple, daily walk through of buildings.
• Ensures janitorial services are satisfactorily completed.
• Performs preventative maintenance work on the mechanical workings of the
building.
• Completes janitorial work, mechanical repairs and provides preventative
maintenance as needed.
• Ensures supply closet has adequate products to maintain buildings.
• Provides upkeep for all equipment.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience
• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
• At least four (4) years of related work experience
• License in a skilled trade is preferred
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for
meeting minimum qualifications.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position serves as a supervisor to others.

Working Conditions: Work is frequently performed in office or similar indoor environments, outdoor
environments, warehouses or file/storage environments, and shops/facilities
environments.

Work requires frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic
chemicals or substances.

Physical Demands: This position requires light work:

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or
a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or
leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category
and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
