Pay rate:

  • Working towards/Bachelor's degree - $20/hour
  • Working towards/Graduate Degree - $24/hour

The Trial Court Office of Workplace Rights and Compliance (OWRC)  works with court users, employees, judges and clerks to create a Trial Court free from unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation regardless of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, disability, mental illness, military service or veteran status, genetics, and/or other protected characteristics.

Position Summary: Working within OWRC of the Executive Office of the Trial Court, we are seeking a personable and highly motivated individual that wants actual hands-on experience. The intern, under the supervision and guidance of the Director of the OWRC, will work on a variety of day-to-day tasks that will involve administrative support and data management.

 

Duties: The intern’s daily duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Guided research of recent cases of civil rights discrimination and summarizing highlights of the cases.
• Data collection and data analysis
• Assist with updating our cases spreadsheet & ADA Coordinators’ list.
• Update contact sheets/reach out to other court departments as needed.
• Assist with preparing training PowerPoints. Attending trainings and presentations
• Assist with investigative interviews and other investigatory processes.
• Visit local courthouses to observe trials and hearings and learn more of how local courthouse’s work.
• Overall, assist OWRC Director/Managers and Specialists as needed.

 

Minimum Requirements:

• Working towards a bachelor’s degree (or high school diploma, or graduate degree, etc.) from an accredited college or university
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.
• Detail oriented
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and part of a team.
• Adaptable and willing to learn new skills.
• Strong interest in learning more about addressing discrimination and harassment in the workplace and proactive best practices to create a respectful and dignified workplace.
