Starting Pay: $88,695.37 – $130, 866.23

  • This position is designated as a management position and is covered by the Trial Court Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.
  • This position is full time, in-person, with an office in Boston.
  • Some travel is required throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Position Summary: The Field Coordinator for the Superior Court Department is responsible for assisting in the training and operation of the MassCourts case management system, gathering and analysis of statistical data, preparing and generating reports, conducting research, providing technical assistance, improving court procedures, and facilitating communication between the Administrative Office, the Superior Courts, and the Trial Court. The Field Coordinator contributes to Departmental goals and objectives, including the expedition and timeliness in the disposition of cases. The Field Coordinator participates in special projects and is also responsible for assisting in the implementation of various case management initiatives and best practices in the Superior Court Department.

Supervision Received: Receives direction from the Departmental Chief Justice, the Deputy Court Administrator, and/or their designee.

Field Coordinator Duties:

• Assists in the training and implementation of case management systems, including MassCourts;
• Works with Superior Court personnel in the ongoing use of the MassCourts electronic case management system that supports the effective integration of uniform procedural processes;
• Assists in performing studies and operational analysis of local court practices;
• Responsible for the timely and accurate collection, maintenance, analysis and reporting of statistical data, including the use of electronic data systems, to ensure compliance with the goals of expedition and timeliness in the disposition of cases;
• Uses analytical skills to identify case management best practices and recommends benchmarks for establishing lines of accountability for case processing and ensuring that communication within these lines is consistent, timely, accurate and efficient;
• Collects and facilitates the transfer of effective operational practices for use in the Superior Court Department;
• Assists in identifying management issues and develops practical solutions;
• Facilitates communications, information, and collaboration between the Superior Courts, its Administrative Office, and the Trial Court;
• Assists in the implementation of new Trial Court and departmental practices and procedures;
• Work is evaluated for professional soundness, conformity to policy, and achievement of objectives;
• Performs duties that require considerable judgment and discretion; and
• Performs related work as required.

Communications Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with court officials, judges, employees, and government agency employees.

Minimum Requirements: These are the minimum requirements necessary to apply for a position of Field Coordinator:


• B.A. or B.S and (3) three years of case management operations experience in the Trial Court or other related work experience in supporting organizational operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating an understanding of case management principles;
• Knowledge of MassCourts, automation technology, or similar case management system and related software is preferred;
• Knowledge of organizational resources and techniques;
• Knowledge of the Massachusetts Court system and applicable laws, rules and procedures is preferred;
• Good interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with justices, other court officials and court personnel at all levels of the court system;
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
• Ability to analyze problems and develop practical solutions;
• Ability to work independently; and
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
